THE COMPANY

C.A. Harrison Companies, LLC (CAH) is a real estate investment and development company that specializes in renovating historic properties into residential, retail and mixed-used commercial space.

Founder and CEO Christopher Harrison began his real estate career shortly after retiring from playing in the NFL. His leadership in planning, development and financial management has resulted in the completion of more than 100 projects, including Plant 64 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and the Model Tobacco Lofts in Richmond, Virginia.

CAH is guided by the vision that all people are deserving of a home that they can afford. In the last decade, CAH has revitalized neighborhoods by creating affordable luxury housing opportunities in Washington, Richmond, and The Carolinas. CAH acquires neglected properties in transitional neighborhoods and invests in them to preserve their history while adopting them to the conveniences of modern living. A certain percentage of residential units are set aside for affordable housing.

Ultimately, CAH builds communities where people can live, work and play. These neighborhoods become economic engines attractive to future investment and growth.

Christopher Harrison

As Founder of C.A. Harrison Companies, LLC, (CAH) Christopher Allen Harrison is inspired to do good work for good people.

After retiring from football in 2000, Mr. Harrison began working full time in real estate development. He was drawn to restoring historical properties — buildings with stories behind them distinguished by their charm — and the ability to redevelop metropolitan areas while also making them affordable for middle class residents to live in.

Richmond, Virginia’s Model Tobacco project highlights just that with its 203 affordable luxury apartments inside the iconic Art Deco architecture of the former tobacco manufacturing plant that, before CAH, had been dormant since 1988. A similar revitalization project illustrates CAH’s adaptive reuse niche market in the highly competitive commercial real estate industry –Whitaker Park in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The Lofts at Whitaker Park include 163 apartment homes with 16 of those set aside as more affordable units. Future plans call for a hotel, retail space and additional residential housing.

Mr. Harrison has provided development oversight and overall leadership for more than 100 projects for CAH.

Mr. Harrison participates in numerous charitable and community activities, including service on the Board of Directors for the Military Bowl Foundation, the nonprofit organization that operates in the National Capital Region to benefit the nation’s military members. He is also on the Virginia Athletics Foundation Board of Trustees, which plays a vital role in the planning, oversight and direction of University of Virginia Athletics. Mr. Harrison provides pro bono support services to Washington D.C., tenant associations seeking to acquire buildings they currently occupy. It’s important that all the residents who live in a CAH property consider the space home, a place to be proud of, to cherish and to respect.

Mr. Harrison earned his bachelor’s degree from University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce and a master’s degree from the Curry School of Education. He and his wife Tenisha currently have two children: daughters, McKenzie and Blake.
